Michael Burnett

Michael is a consultant (HR & IT People Strategy) and Occupational Psychologist with a behavioural focus on how to adapt technology to improve talent management.

Michael founded taranis-PHI in 2011 to provide consultancy and develop solutions that promote human integration, specifically to provide:

In-depth knowledge to help organisations to find, adapt and integrate online solutions and the right products from suppliers of e-HR, HRIS, psychometrics and e-learning systems.
Applied experience when needed for selecting vendors & partners, planning and attaining business change and managing talent supply innovation.
Design expertise for bespoke online assessments (assessment centres and situational judgement tests).

Michael has significant experience in the private (Banking, Management Consulting, Retail, IT & Digital Communications), public (HMRC, Defence, Education, Justice, Police) and not-for-profit sectors (Careers Guidance) and has specialised in product development, human capital interventions (recruitment, development, career guidance), and helping organisations to implement change alongside technological innovation.

He helped develop the concept, the psychological model and the online experience for a range of people-centred systems including:

Careers Guidance systems for use in Secondary and Higher Education;

Unsupervised, randomised ability tests for use in a wide range of occupations;

Personality-derived guides for development & team building;

Situational judgement tests including animation and video;

360 performance management systems for Leadership Development.

He has over 30 years of experience, is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and holds a BA Hons. (First Class) in Psychology from the Queens University of Belfast and a Phd. from the University of Surrey.

He is qualified in the use of several established psychometric instruments and has designed customised assessment centres, simulation exercises, situational judgement tests and 360 competency-based assessment systems.

Michael is registered with the BPS as a Test User, Occupational, Ability and Personality (CEB SHL OPQ and Talent Q Dimensions), formerly Level A & B.
